About

This website is a project to collect and make searchable historical web URLs featured in print "Internet directory"/"Internet Yellow Pages" books published around the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Printed directory books of Internet resources were a common sight in bookstores around the world in the 1990s and early 2000s. Most URLs in these books are no longer accessible, but they provide researchers today with a stable corpus of historical URLs in various languages.

This website currently features URLs from selected categories from 5 printed directory books in English and Chinese, published between 1999 and 2001. Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish books will be added in the near future.

This website is designed to be accessible from vintage web browsers released in the late 1990s-early 2000s.
